A robust US nonfarm payrolls report and further steps by China to loosen Covid-19 restrictions have pushed global rates higher, with the US 10-year rate breaking back above 3% overnight, says BNZ Markets. “The higher rates backdrop has hit US equity markets, with the S&P500 around 1.5% lower than Friday morning’s close,” notes Nick Smyth.
